A note of caution

Cementious mortars

There are in fact very few applications where cement is appropriate. This is because it has very low permiability which then leads to material decay shown in the perfect example to the here...

We recommend the replacement of cement mortars with lime mortars as soon as possible because it is better to repoint than have to rebuild
If that, then rebuilding is necessay...

N.B. A weak Cement or Cement with Hydrated lime added is equally undesirable!
